Mushroom Buttons Quilt

By Anna - December 15, 2024

This quilt has been a challenge since day one and at times I wasn’t sure if I would finish it. The reason I picked this pattern is because my granddaughter who I was making this for is a fan of mushrooms and when I saw the pattern and the fabric itself, I knew this was the right quilt for her.

The pattern is called Mushroom Buttons and the fabric is Mushroom Blooms by Poppie Cotton. I am becoming a big fan of the Poppie Cotton designs as they are so cute and perfect for little girl quilts.
Finished product after being washed and giving it that crinkly look!

The other thing I liked about the pattern was the dresdens as I have been wanting to make a quilt using this design for quite sometime. In order to make the dresdens you need a template which was provided in the pattern. The bad part was I made the template from card stock and as I made my cuts I kept cutting more and more of my template, but didn’t realize it until I was sewing the dresdens after having cut out all 320 pieces. Yes there is 320 pieces to the dresdens and over 1000 pieces total. Lots and lots of cutting.

Here is a pic of the mushrooms and dresdens laid out.

Below are a few pics while on the longarm being quilted.
When I'm gifting a quilt, I always wash them before giving them away. I do that to make sure nothing falls apart as the last thing I want is for some of the piecing to come apart after it gets washed. All of the following pics are after this process.
No quilt is complete without my "special" label.
