March 2025 Quilt Progress

By Anna - March 30, 2025

Despite being on vacation for a week this month, I was still able to accomplish several things. As I've stated since January, I pledged to complete at least 13 quilts this year, several of which are block of the month quilts.

The Quilted Snowman - This QAL has been split into several parts over a 12 month period with the goal to complete 2 parts each month. At the end of February I had finished through part 12 out of 21. I decided I wanted to finish Mr. Snowman sooner rather than later as I wanted to use the leftover fabric for my Vintage Christmas sew-a-long that started in January, so I went into fast mode and completed Parts 13-21 by the time I left on vacation March 9th.

Below are the different parts I finished and then the final quilt. I will do a separate blog post for The Quilted Snowman at a later date. He needs to be quilted on Miss Moxie first.

Part 13 - Wagon Pull Handle Block

Part 14 - Lower Wagon Handle Block

Part 15 - Red Wagon Block

Part 16 - Left Snowman Block

Part 17 - Buttons Block and Part 18 - Snow Flurry Scarf Block

Part 19 - Right Snowman Block & Part 20 - Mitten and Quilted Tree Block

     Part 21 - Quilt Finish

Vintage Christmas - I was able to catch up on this quilt this month and completed all 4 blocks for each month from January to March. I am using my leftover HomeTown Holiday fabric from the Quilted Snowman Quilt to make this one.

March Blocks

Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge - There will be 3 blocks per month, released on Tuesday, except on the last Tuesday of the month. I was able to compete all 3 blocks this month.
Block 7
Block 8
Block 9

Cali & Co Mystery Block - there will only be one block released each month. I completed block 3 this month. I am using fabric from Corey Yoder's Cali and Co line.

A Quilting Life - I completed the March block. This block finish at 18 1/2" square.

Prairie Home Sampler - Last month I stated that the quilt-a-long would start in March, however, March was used as a prep month, so no actual blocks were planned to be done. With everything else going on this month, I decided not to skip ahead and wait until April to do my blocks.

There are 2 other quilts I committed to complete this year as well that I will be using scraps from each of my finished quilts. One will be the Woven Star Quilt where the blocks are made using the woven star quilt foundation paper and the other will be Bitty Brick House. I have completed two blocks for each this month using Corey Yoder's Cozy Up fabric that I made a quilt using a jelly roll with and Minki Kim's Bloomberry fabric line that I made the Scattered Squares quilt out of.

I am using Confetti Cotton Vintage White for all my background pieces on these.

Sewing Themed Quilt Sew-a-long - I started a new sew-a-long created by Erica Arndt from Confessions of a Homeschooler who is also a fabric designer. She had a new line debut this month and because she sources it herself, she doesn't have as much inventory as other designers, so her line usually sells out in a matter of hours once it debuts and this line was no different. The fabric used on the cover of the book is from her previous line (Bloom). The quilt kit included the pattern and fabrics needed for the entire quilt including the backing.

One thing different about Erica's sew-a-longs from other designers is she starts her projects by completing the sashing and borders as well as binding before jumping into the blocks. Her reasoning is so you cut all the WOF (width of fabric) items first.

Here are my finishes for this month:

After 3 months I am progressing rather nicely and see some beautiful quilts in my future.

Thanks for following along on my quilting journey.
