Block 3 is called The Stairway and is made our of squares and rectangle shapes. Cutting out all the shapes was easy. I'm hoping when I sew them together they all line up good.

My color choices for this block are shown below, which happen to be the same color patterns that were used in the sample quilt. You only needed 5 different colors, (1) reds, (1) orange, (1) blue, (1) yellow and (1) green. 

Block 3 fabric choices

It’s Week 12 of the RBD Block Challenge and I can’t say enough good things about this challenge as it has been a wonderful experience thus far. It has inspired me to reach beyond what I think I’m capable of and really develop my quilting skills.

This week’s block is called the Nine Patch Star block brought to us by Gerri Robinson. Gerri’s featured block was designed using fabric from her Gem Stones Brights collection. You can follow her on Instagram @plantedseeddesigns for more project ideas featuring her fabrics.

I used the recommended classic color palette of Oxford Blue and Le Creme Confetti Cottons for my block.

Nine Patch Star Block, Week 12

It’s Week 11 of the RBD Block Challenge and things changed up a little bit as the original block for weeks 11 and 12 were switched up. The RBD blog posts marks all the updates so if you are tuning into this at a later date everything should be updated accordingly.

This week’s block is titled the Glint block and is brought to us by Melissa Mortenson of Polka Dot Chair. You can follow Melissa on Instagram @polkadotchair  to see project ideas as well as how she completed her block this week by using fabric from her brand new Spooky Hollow collection.

My fabric choices were more earthly colors, Cape Verde, Swamp, Moss and Le Creme Confetti Cottons.

Glint Block, Week 11

It’s Week 10 of the RBD Block Challenge and I’m excited to share another completed block. This week’s block is called the Lady of the Lake block and was provided by Amanda Castor of Material Girl Quilts. There were only two fabrics used in this block. Amanda's block featured fabrics from her Winterland collection, Snowflakes and Flurries while I chose Oceanside and Le Creme Confetti Cottons.

Not all of my points match up, but I am still proud of how these blocks keep turning out and looking forward to seeing the finished project.
