Quilter's Big Tote

By Anna - December 17, 2024

The mushroom bloom fabric by Poppie Cotton that I used to make my granddaughters mushroom quilt included a piece of fabric with all types of affirmation words in what looks like a deck of cards. I used it to make the big tote bag with handles that she can use to take stuff to her friends or on car trips. I used some soft and stable to help hold its shape. The pattern I modeled this after is one from Minki Kim called Quilter's Big Tote, but I made some alterations in regards to the size, so that the finished product would be what I needed it to be with the fabric being used.

For the lining I used the same fabric I used in her quilt for the background. Its called Confetti Cotton and is very festive with all the different colors. The straps are webbing wrapped in fabric to match the design. Per the pattern, the finished size is 20 inches x 16 inches x 6 inches. My finished size was about an inch to an inch and a half smaller all the way around.
